Joe Aust

Joe has been in the real estate business since 1969 and a Managing Broker in Charlottesville since 1972. He joined Real Estate III in 2004 as managing broker of our Historic Downtown office. Active in residential brokerage, new construction, development, farms and estates and commercial real estate; he holds both the Graduate REALTOR® Institute (GRI) and the Certified Real Estate Broker (CRB) designations.

Joe has been actively involved in Association activities as a Board member, Treasurer and Chairman of the Professional Standards and Arbitrations committee and member of many other committees. In past years, he was the recipient of the CAAR Code of Ethics Award, President's Award, REALTOR® of the Year Award and is a VAR Certified Ethics Instructor and licensed instructor for the Virginia Real Estate Board.

Joe and his wife, Kathy live in downtown Charlottesville. They enjoy their dog Teddy a Shiba Inu, their grandchildren, travel, daily workouts at ACAC and gardening. They are both active investors.

Bob Brydge

With more than 30 years as a REALTOR®, Real Estate III President of Valley Operations, Bob serves are managing broker of our Fishersville office. He is currently on the Board of Directors for Real Estate III and holds a BA in business and AAS in mental health.

An active leader in the real estate community, Bob is a member of the Greater Augusta Association of REALTORS® and has served as Director, Treasurer and Chair of the Grievance Committee for that organization. Bob is also a certified ethics instructor and a certified board mediator.

A member of the Rotary Club of Staunton-Augusta County and past member of their Board of Directors, Bob enjoys all the best this beautiful region has to offer, including golf, fishing, hunting, and sports activities.

Lori Chapman

Lori Chapman has been a licensed REALTOR® since 1980 having practiced in New Hampshire and Texas before moving to Virginia. She has been a sales agent, Relocation Director, Managing Broker and is currently serving as the Vice President for the Charlottesville area. Lori earned a B.A. degree in Biology in 1963 and a Masters Degree in Special Education in 1973.

She is past president of Charlottesville Area Association of REALTORS® and has served on its Board of Directors for several years. Committee work includes IS, Public Relations, Education/Risk Management and Professional Standards. She received their Ethics in Action award in 2002 and REALTOR® of the Year award in 2006.

Lori lives in Keswick with her husband, Bob, and her dog, Scooter. She enjoys golf, reading, travel and entertaining friends.

Jeff Gaffney

Jeff is the Chairman and CEO of Real Estate III as well as the Chairman of the Real Estate III New Homes Division. He graduated from UVA in 1987 with a BS in Economics. Jeff started his career with Real Estate III in 1988 where he started in on-site sales at the Forest Lakes Office of Real Estate III. In 1990 he was named Sales Manager of Forest Lakes and in 1995 he became the Director of Sales for both Forest Lakes and Glenmore offices. In 1999 he was named Senior Vice President. In 2005 he was named Chairman of Real Estate III. Jeff has earned the following realtor designations: ABR, ABRM, CRS, CRB, GRI, SRES, QSC, and e-PRO.

Jeff has been awarded Sales Associate of the Year and REALTOR® of the Year by the Charlottesville Area Association of REALTORS®. Jeff is a past president of CAAR, and a former member of the VAR policy board.

Jeff has also been the Chairman of the Martha Jefferson Leadership Council and is currently on the boards of the Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Charlottesville Ronald McDonald House. Jeff is also a co-founder of the Charlottesville I Have A Dream Foundation. Jeff and his wife Mo live in Glenmore with their 4 children.

Max Hirtriter, Jr.

Max is currently the assistant manager for our Fishersville Office. He has been active in the real estate industry for the past 25 years and has earned both the CRS and ABR designations from the National Association of REALTORS® and has recently attained the Quality Service Certification (QSC).

Throughout the years as an active salesperson, he was awarded various sales awards including Salesperson of the Year from the Greater Augusta Association of REALTORS®. He has served on numerous GAR committees and twice served as their President.

In addition to being an active member of his church, other community activities include Habitat for Humanity, Elks and Eagles Clubs. When not involved in one of these many activities he enjoys time with his family, or you may find him on the local golf courses.

Pat Jensen

Pat has been an active member of the local real estate community since 1992 and is currently the managing broker at our 29 North office. She has several designations including Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), Accredited Buyer Representative Master (ABRM), Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES) Consultant-Certified Real Estate Consultant (C-CREC) and Graduate of REALTOR® Institute of Virginia (GRI).

She graduated from The College of William and Mary and the New York School of Interior Design.

Pat is very active in association activities at the local, state and national levels. She has served as President of the Charlottesville Area Association of REALTORS® and is currently the Virginia Association of REALTORS® president. In addition, she has served on the VAR Policy Board for several years and has chaired both the Professional Development Advocacy Group and RPAC for that organization.

She is a graduate of their Leadership Academy. Pat has won all of the major awards at CAAR including Rookie of the Year, Salesperson of the Year, Ethics in Action and REALTOR® of the Year as well as VAR Salesperson of the Year.

Jeanette Kelly

Jeanette has been an active real estate agent for the past 30 years and holds the Graduate of REALTOR® Institute (GRI) and Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) designations. She has worked in Staunton, Charlottesville and Harrisonburg and currently is our managing broker for Real Estate III in Harrisonburg.

Jeanette is an active member of the real estate community wherever she is working and has held the offices of president, vice president and secretary in both Augusta County and Rockingham County Associations of REALTORS®. She received REALTOR® of the Year in 1999 for the Harrisonburg Rockingham Association of REALTORS®. In 2007, she served as President of the Virginia Chapter of the Certified Residential Specialists Council.

Jeanette currently lives in Harrisonburg where she is an active member of First Presbyterian Church. She is the mother of two adult children and the proud grandmother of five grandchildren. One of her favorite pastimes is playing Scrabble with her mom, Louise Talley, a resident of Sunnyside Retirement Community. She also enjoys local theater, music, sewing and attending local arts and crafts fairs.

Rick Kohler

Realtor and Broker since 1975, Rick and his wife Kaye are strong volunteers in their community. He is currently the managing broker for our office in Little Washington, Rappahannock County, VA.

Proud father of Andrew, Vice President of the Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection (RLEP.org) and Trustee of Trinity Church, Rick previously served on the Loudoun County Board of REALTORS® and chaired the Professional Standards Committee for that Board. He has completed hundreds of hours of real estate investment, estate planning and IRS Code Section 1031 Exchange training, and previously worked in commercial and investment real estate while living in McLean, VA.

Tom Pace

Tom has been licensed since 1992 and has been active in our industry the entire time. He is currently the manager of our Glenmore sales office and has an Associate Broker's license as well as the Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR) designation.

Tom is a long time member of the MLS Committee for the Charlottesville Area Association of REALTORS® and has received Real Estate III's Diamond Club recognition every year since 1995.

He is a member of our local Chamber of Commerce, Blue Ridge Home Builders Association and the Upward Basketball program. Tom and his wife, Judy live in Glenmore with their two children and are members of Olivet Presbyterian Church..




Donna Patton

Donna has been a licensed REALTOR® for 12 years and a broker for the last 6 years. She is currently the managing broker of our Crossroads Office serving the entire area, but specializing in Fluvanna and Louisa Counties. She holds the Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) and Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR) designations and recently completed the requirements as a Quality Service Certified (QSC) agent.

The local REALTOR® association benefits from her efforts where she is currently serving on their Board of Directors as well as being a member of the Public Policy Group and Professional Standards Committee. In the past, she has chaired the IS and Education Committees. She is a certified Ethics instructor and teaches several continuing education classes for the association. Donna has been a member of CAAR's Honor Society for the past 6 years and VAR's Honor Society for 2 years. She also serves on VAR's Standard Forms Workgroup.

Donna is a life long resident of Central Virginia. She and her husband live in Fluvanna County and, many weekends, can be found riding their horses through some of our beautiful countryside.

Art Pearson

President Art Pearson joined Real Estate III in 1972, obtained a broker's license in 1975, and acted as training directory in the late 1970's. He managed 4 separate offices over the years, and now serves as principal broker of the organization. He holds both the Certified Residential Broker (CRB) and the Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) designations.

Art is a distinguished leader in the local real estate community, having served as a past president of the Charlottesville Area Association of REALTORS® and that organization's Real Estate Weekly newspaper. A certified ethics instructor, he won the CAAR Code of Ethics Award in 1991, and REALTOR® of the Year Award in 1998. He currently serves as chair of the Professional Standards Committee.

Art is a lifelong resident of the Charlottesville area and lives with his wife, Shirley in Earlysville.

Dave Shockley

Dave is the managing broker for our Faulconer Drive office in Charlottesville. Prior to joining Real Estate III in 1999, he was a computer training consultant for 18 years. In keeping with the current climate Dave was one of the first REALTORS® to obtain the E-PRO (Internet Professionally Certified Realtor) and RECS (Member of the Real Estate Cyberspace Society). He also is certified as a Relocation Specialist, New Homes Specialist (CNHS) and holds the Quality Service Certification (QSC).

As a Real Estate professional he has been awarded membership in the Charlottesville Area Association of REALTORS® Professional Honor Society every year since 1999 and has consistently received the Circle of Excellence Award for outstanding production.

At Real Estate III, Dave received the Frank John Kessler award in 2000 and the 2004 Ethics Award.

Currently, Dave is a continuing education instruction for the Charlottesville Area Association of REALTORS® and has been an instructor at PVCC for the pre-licensing class.

Pat Widhalm

Pat is the Risk Reduction Manager and a Managing Broker for our James River office.

Her emphases include risk reduction, management consultation, policy, compliance, and education.

Pat is a certified Code of Ethics instructor; an NAR certified professional standards procedures instructor; a certified mediator; a certified REB continuing education instructor; a senior faculty member of the Real Estate III School of Real Estate and of the Central Virginia School of Real Estate.

Pat recently completed thirty years as an Associate Professor, Adjunct Faculty, in the Business and Technologies Division of Piedmont Virginia Community College.

Pat is actively involved with CAAR and VAR on committees and work groups as a member or chair, particularly in the areas of professional standards, ethics, risk management, education and standard forms. She has won many awards over the years, the most noteworthy being the VAR Code of Ethics Leadership Award, the VAR Outstanding Educator Award, and Charter Member of the VAR Hall of Fame Award in 2007.

Pat has served on several Boards of Directors in our community and serves as a volunteer mediator within the real estate community.
